Trying to walk past mannikins is futile if you have a camera in your hand. Mannikins, like grave stones and sun sets, pull camera lenses to them and we, the image makers, have no choice but to release the shutters of our cameras and publish the results. This was made clear to me on Sunday morning, Sept. 30, 2012, on Market Street in Wilmington, Delaware. The photo above is the result.
In the very first chapter of the Bible, Genesis 1:27, we are told that “In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” We, in turn, create mannikins in our image. They are like us, just as a photograph is like us, that is to say, not very much.
