Perhaps because this is such a popular place, many guidebooks skip over it, yet this is one of the better walks in the Peak District. Once you get beyond the stepping stones, the number of other hikers decreases dramatically. The hike up from the valley floor is steep; just take your time. We were thrilled to see an ewe giving birth. April is lambing time in the Peak District. My wife and I were there April 9, 2018.
