Wooden Chinese characters, graffiti, and one odd symbol on a sign in the Chinatown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Not always, but often, I am delighted to find mystery, to come across any thing I do not understand.
I am not sure why this is, but am grateful for the recurring experience.
It certainly helped me when, fresh out of high school, I found myself working in a science laboratory with electrical engineers and chemists. Everything then was mysterious to me, even the taste of coffee.

Yes, my suspicion is that any public sign is not sublime, but pedestrian. Because the Chinese characters are foreign to me, and the graffiti and symbols indecipherable, they are mysterious. Perhaps this sign is like the often mundane cuneiform tablets from ancient Sumeria that only record the sale of camels, sheep, and dates.
