Organizations can tame the Internet by using a few tools wisely.
The basic idea is to email people short messages and to offer them in-depth information on websites, YouTube, etc…
Short Messages
EMAILED NEWSLETTERS can inform subscribers and offer them links to in-depth information.
TWITTER ACCOUNTS can be used like email to inform subscribers.
FACEBOOK PAGES put posts in front of people IF they “LIKE” your page and look at Facebook regularly.
In-Depth Information
WEBSITES (such as this blog) can present tons of information. By their nature, websites and blogs are passive; that is, they sit there and wait for people to visit them.
YOUTUBE CHANNELS put videos in front of people IF they can find the videos.
Workshop, Thursday, August 9
I will be exploring these ideas at a workshop in Philadelphia on Thursday, August 9, at 9:00 a.m. and again at 10:45 a.m. at the convention of the North American Maritime Ministry Association. The title of my workshop is “Sharing Your Cause — Social Networking”. I intend to use this blog as an example of a WordPress website.
